December 29th, 2009 - Has it really been a year?!
It's hard to believe we've completed yet another rotation 'round the glowing disc in the sky. Work has been coming in steadily over the past few months, including several web design / coding jobs, some traditional graphic design work, and a dab of 3D work to boot.

In regards to personal projects, I'm feeling more and more comfortable with Actionscript 3, as well as dynamic simulations in 3D, which were a large portion of a recent 3 minute spot completed for a major technology consortium. We're still finessing the final details, but the base work is complete - and looks great!

I've recently moved into the realm of javascript libraries, which I'm seeing as quite beneficial in web 2.0 design (blech, I hate that name). New personal indeavors include an update to this site using JS libraries ( haven't settled on one quite yet, but I'm eyeing jQuery as a great option), returning to writing more MEL / Python pipeline tools, and furthering my grasp of Actionscript 3.

A busy year ahead, time to get back to the grind!
August 6th, 2009 - Updated portfolio, Cross-browser corrections..
The portfolio section of the website has been updated with descriptions of previous work, including a new section dedicated to highlighting selected work from professional clients, including Qwest Communications and MGM Grand at Foxwoods (...with more to come!).

Furthermore, I've rewritten a fair amount of code (read:most of it...grr.) that it would circumvent a previous "feature" in how IE renders the z-index of classed hyperlink images. The portfolio section has now been tested for all browsers.

I've also added a few freelance editions to the portfolio (most recently the Inventex website to "Web Design"). I've established a great client relationship here, whilst also exploring the effects of transparency and positioning, leading to some pretty interesting results.

Also in the works are a few 3D projects, which should be posted shortly - Stay tuned for details.

Summer is quickly coming to an end, and will most certainly be missed.

C'est la vie.
May 22nd, 2009 - New Logo, etc.
Below is a freshly designed logo for a Burlington, Vermont startup offering custom Linux solutions (amongst a number of other things). I worked with the client to establish look/feel, then modeled the tower in 3D, brought the vector information into illustrator, and voila! Outpost Embedded Logo An identical logo/brand piece is available as a black and white vector line drawing for use in print situations where color wouldn't be able to be reproduced reliably.

The year is flying by; I've recently found myself getting back more and more into Actionscript, though this time around it's AS3, and it's a pretty different ballgame. Alas, onward!
April 23rd, 2009 - New Model Reel up.
The newest 2009.1 Modeling Reel is up, and can be found in the 'reel' section of the portfolio. Included is a new model of an antique diving helmet (c. 1940).

This previous week I had the pleasure of being a guest lecturer at Johnson State College on the topic of Flash implementation for Artists on the web, which besides a few glitches (Murphy hexed the network connection on several computers in the lab...grr) went quite well. It's a wonderful thing to see the ideation of students' works in progress.

Also, I've recently been contracted to design type/logos for one company and one local band. I'm constantly intrigued by conveying the sense of ideology through pictorial means - will post as soon as everything is complete and approved.

Finally, much love and respect to all of the wonderful people and cats I've been spending time with of recent. You're the reason and inspiration for pushing forward through times trudging in 'heavy boots'.

April 9th, 2009 - A return to the East.
Lots of news - where to begin? I've recently returned to the East Coast, and am currently located in Burlington, Vermont. The weather isn't quite as it was in California, but nonetheless - it's good to be home.

After talking to a few people in the 3D production industry, I've decided to pursue modeling as opposed to generalism in an attempt to get my feet wet, proverbially speaking. Though my interests still lie in all aspects of 3D production, it's seemingly quite difficult to try and learn/do everything (Thanks to Steve G for the insightful chats).

Finally, my new turntable-style modeling reel should be up in the near-future. In fact, the last shot is rendering as I type this. I'm pretty excited to see where this all may lead, really - of course, as soon as everything is set to go, I'll post a link. G'day!

February 9th, 2009 - Updates, Autism Collaborative, Etc.
Long time, no update - apologies. I've taken the last month as a break working from the computer to do some house renovations. It's always nice to have skills beyond those of the computer variety. Need a website? I can do that. Need your house rocked, taped, and mudded? I can do that, too! In short, I rule.

In other news, I've been studying up of recent on a number of things, including Search Engine Optimization, Unix / Command Line goodness, and learning more about Mental Ray rendering - both capability and limitation. Cool Stuff.

Finally, a project of which I was recently Art Director for, the Autism Collaborative, was recently mentioned in Newsweek.  Also, to see some of the work I contributed and/or directed, check out the Autism Collaborative's Art Comparisons page. We partnered with Google and Project Spectrum (Autism-Spectrum Children using Google's SketchUp ) to create rough 3D models for the Autism Collaborative, where I would take and "finesse" their ideas. They came up with some great stuff!

January 12th, 2009 - Happy New Year!
This is the professional website of Brendan Bond, a 3D Generalist and Designer living in the Bay area of California. C'mon in, and stay a while!

The interface is pretty straight-forward; take a moment to learn a bit about my background in the about section, and please check out some of my work in the portfolio section. And of course, you can always contact me in the ever-so-eponymously-titled contact section.

I've been working quickly to get this site up, so expect a more populated portfolio as the days go on.

Here's to a great new year,
